🔍 Objective:
Challenge kids to balance an M&M on different objects, learning about center of gravity and balance.
📦 Materials:
M&Ms (or any small round candy)
Plastic or wooden spoon
Popsicle sticks
Paper cups
Playdough or modeling clay (to stabilize objects)
Optional: ruler, string, or small blocks for creative balancing setups
🔧 Instructions:
Stabilize a spoon using playdough so it’s horizontal like a seesaw.
Place an M&M on the spoon's center and observe how easily it balances.
Now try different placements: on the edge of the spoon, on stacked popsicle sticks, or on a narrow paper cup rim.
Ask the child to design their own balance structure using the materials.
Add a challenge: How high can you balance an M&M? How many M&Ms can you balance?
